Matthew Dowd recently participated as a panelist in the USPTO’s PTAB Listening Session: PTAB and Life Sciences. The panel was held on March 30, 2026, at the USPTO headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia.
The program was the first in the USPTO’s 2026 three-part spring listening series addressing key topics related to the PTAB and other top-priority patent issues. The session brought together USPTO officials and experienced practitioners to discuss current issues and stakeholder perspectives at the intersection of PTAB proceedings and the life science section. The session was spearheaded by Coke Morgan Stewart, Deputy Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Deputy Director of the USPTO.
Mr. Dowd joined a panel of industry and government representatives to discuss trends, challenges, and considerations affecting PTAB practice in life sciences disputes. The discussion was moderated by Nicholas Matich, Deputy General Counsel for Intellectual Property Law and Solicitor, Office of the Solicitor, USPTO.
