Adam Smith is an associate at Dowd Scheffel. Mr. Smith works on and participates in all aspects of the Firm’s legal practices. He provides support for legal research, managing discovery, drafting motions, managing case dockets, and counseling clients.

Mr. Smith earned his Juris Doctor degree from The George Washington University Law School, with a concentration in Business & Finance Law. While in law school, Mr. Smith was a student attorney for the GW Law Small Business and Community Economic Development Clinic and participated in the United States Patent and Trademark Office’s Law School Clinic Certification Program. While under faculty supervision, Mr. Smith interviewed, advised, and represented entrepreneurs and nonprofit organizations on matters involving business organization, license applications, drafting agreements, basic intellectual property issues, and other related legal issues.

 

During law school, Mr. Smith had internships in the Office of the General Counsel for the District of Columbia Office of the Chief Financial Officer and in the Government, Education and Healthcare subgroup of the Commercial Legal Team at VMware, Inc. Prior to his legal career, Mr. Smith worked professionally in both the financial industry, as an analyst, and the

information technology industry, as a consultant.

 

Mr. Smith earned a degree in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is admitted to the Massachusetts and Maryland bars.

Mr. Smith is not currently admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia and is practicing under the supervision of a member of the D.C. Bar.
